DUST 514 really needs something for the new players to do other than get pub-stomped. Also, the Eve dust link is woefully under developed and needs expansion.
I think I have an idea that can resolve both issues.
Give DUST players a way to participate in Sansha incursions.
Incursions made Eve high-sec social. It got people to organize to take on PvE content, people got used to fleeting up, gearing up for a team effort, and and playing together. I think giving DUST players Sansha ground missions would encourage the same things on the DUST 514 side, as well as provide activity for new players to skill up and build up their wallet without being endlessly pub-stomped.
Additionally, it could provide a good test bed for Eve-DUST integration.
One possible scenario: Eve players could accept missions to place war barges in orbit over Sansha occupied planets. The Eve players would guard the war barges from Sansha NPCs and can provide orbital support. DUST can spawn in the warbarges as a team and try to complete objectives on the ground to repel the invasion (or perhaps Eve and DUST players co-operate to maximize the farm from the scenario ).
Multiple incursion fleets and DUST squads can participate in the liberation of a planet and DUST squads on the ground can complete must like Eve fleets in space do for incursion objectives.
The mechanism for liberating a planet can be a prototype for the mechanism for integrating planetary conquest into faction warfare. And once planetary conquest is working in faction warfare, onto 0.0 sovereignty wars.
Another possible scenario: Eve incursion fleet needs to attack a Sansha outpost, but instead of having to DPS the structure down, must dock a warbarge to the structure and protect the warbarge from waves of Sansha ships until a DUST squad completes objectives inside the outpost.
The mechanism for securing this outpost can be a prototype for DUST participation in capital and station fights in fleet battles.
I think this would be a good direction to take because it will bring much needed content to DUST as well as providing a non-binding way to bring the two games together with going all-in. |
